Often, business ventures and relationships come about through casual meetings and friendly interactions. If a dispute arises, perhaps many years later, a lack of written communication makes recalling what was agreed to difficult and this can have a major impact on events to follow.

It’s worth having a shareholder agreement put in place, as something specific to refer to and this would include a dispute resolution process which can help avoid the necessity for court proceedings, which in itself potentially opens up even the instigating party to cross claim.
